Request: DWM received a project request from a retail partner whose store has a rubber mat flooring area at the front entrance of the store.  Water and debris has gotten under the mat from traffic and weather which has caused damage and bubbling of the rubber mat material.  We were requested to remove all of the black mat floor tiles, clean the concrete floor beneath the tiles, and polish the concrete at the front of the store to match the flooring in the rest of the store.

Preparation: DWM partnered with a local flooring specialist who performed a sight visit. Our contractor took measurements and provided multiple photos of the flooring beneath the rubber tiles.  It was determined that due to the rubber floor tiles and the adhesive used, removal of existing flooring would not leave a visually appealing final product.  DWM alternatively proposed installing an acrylic resin textured overcoat to the floor in front of the main entrance doors.

Execution: Upon approval, DWM scheduled the overnight project with store staff. The job was performed in a single overnight with time to spare in the morning for the product to cure and the acrylic smell to waft out of the front doors before customers arrived at the normal store opening time.

Sometimes the most important work happens before the project ever begins. When site conditions showed the original plan would not deliver the right outcome and result, DWM pivoted quickly and developed a better solution. Executed overnight with zero downtime, the store was ready for business the next morning. The right result starts with the right plan and when challenges change the path forward, We’ll Handle It.
