Hurricane Restoration in a Hurry: Retail Client, North Carolina

The Results

12 trades & 4.5 months after a devastating hurricane, the store was reopened. Our client’s reopening happened months sooner than other stores plagued with the same damage!

The Challenge

A storm ripped through Jacksonville, NC, tearing the roof off the building, causing extensive flooding/damage, and destroying all inventory. When first allowed to enter the store after the storm, the manager was quoted saying that “brought [him] to his knees.” The 28,000 square foot mall anchor store was a total loss due to the hurricane.

The Solution

Due to our remodel & emergency response/remediation experience, we were contacted to clean, gut, & rebuild the store and cafe. We had project managers onsite for the duration of the project to oversee the dozens of local contractors hired to rebuild a store that is the heart of the Jacksonville community. After initial remediation and gutting, our onsite team worked to rebuild the white box. Once the white box was completed, the FF&E work began to breathe new life into the store, and community. We were proud to bring our Facilities Maintenance and Construction & Renovation divisions together to complete this emergency project on time & budget.
